My Story

My name is Kat. Like many, I can say, "My grandma used to crochet!" I cherish the memories of my grandmother, "Memaw," creating her token chevron Afghan blankets, always having one ready to snuggle up with during the holidays.

Although I found the blankets fascinating, it wasn't until I 17 that I developed an interest in crochet. While browsing online, I stumbled upon the cutest plush bear I had ever seen, made from yarn. Realizing it was a pattern to crochet the bear myself, I felt a mix of annoyance and determination. I immediately went to the craft store, gathered materials, and, after watching several YouTube videos, I created a what vaguely looked like the bear. Despite a lot of flaws, he was mine, I was proud of him, and I loved him.

After that, requests for other items began to pour in. I bought a book of small animal plush (amigurumi) patterns. My next project was a lion. The requests for crochet items never stopped. For nearly 20 years I have made plushies, blankets, scarves, coasters, hats, and more for people in my life.

Though I’ve often been encouraged to sell my creations, I preferred making items on my terms, allowing my creativity to flow freely without pressure. Despite this, over the years, I have sold many pieces, and, I’ve rediscovered the joy of crafting in recent years. By focusing on what I genuinely want to create I can also embrace the selling aspect of my hobby, which has become a fulfilling experience.

I regret losing the early photos of my first creations, but I am committed to continually improving my craft and inspiring others. My passion is not about making money; it’s about helping others and designing my own products. If selling is the path I'm meant to follow, I’m ready to embrace it.
